Additional information

Liza Kanaeva-Hunsicker

Liza Kanaeva-Hunsicker is a Moscow-born, New York-based artist whose work is a visceral exploration of identity and sexuality, a messy love letter to the complexities of femininity.
Having honed her craft alongside legendary artists such as Steven Meisel and Pamela Hanson, Liza's journey is marked by a quest for authenticity. Each photograph is a dialogue, a moment suspended in time that invites viewers to confront their own perception of beauty and strength. Liza's work connects the intimate and the universal, the personal and the collective, in a celebration of the female experience. Vogue Italia was an early supporter and a loyal supporter of Liza's work.
Kanaeva-Hunsicker's publications, including NYC Girls (2023), A Soft Gaze at Intimacy (2022), and Primal Sight (2020), testify to her artistic vision of femininity and representation. These works, now part of the permanent collections of the Whitney, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, testify to his impact on contemporary photography.
“My work is a messy love letter to women, to skateboarding, to eating disorders, to Moscow, to New York, to nonconformity, to my body and hers, to a schoolgirl who was and is me.”
