SICILIE ON TOUR
Selfself Books presents SICILIE
a book by Francesco Algeri
edited by Laura Davì and with curatorial contribution by Francesca Greco

The book brings together a series of shots taken entirely with Lomography film, highlighting the charm and versatility of the analogue medium.
Two events will be held in Sicily, in the cities of Catania (22 May) and Messina (24 May), which will combine an experiential moment of development using the new Lomo Daylight Developing Tank with an exclusive workshop, followed by the official presentation of the book.

TO WHOM IS IT ADDRESSED?
To those who are starting to experiment with developing and analogue photography, to those who want to try their hand at new negative development processes quickly. And to those who are simply curious to enter a different dimension of photography.
WHAT WILL WE LEARN?
To become completely autonomous in the analogue creative process, from the shooting to the developing stage by using a “Daylight”** tank capable of loading and developing 35mm film in full light*. To use new environmentally friendly developing liquids**, without forgetting the archiving phase and the various scanning possibilities. From shooting to publishing in the fastest, easiest and also most environmentally friendly way.
*35mm format only
**Lab Box: Tank Daylight (like the already existing Agfa Rondinax ) which becomes even more strategic when used with so-called “mono-bath” chemistry, i.e. products that contain both developing and fixing in a single solution. A chemistry that is activated by combining the two solutions and capable of developing and fixing a film simultaneously.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
We will first understand the various types of B/W film, what ASAs are and why they are our friends. We will develop our rolls (35mm) in minutes, potentially anywhere and even in sunlight. We will manage the process from start to finish without the need for a darkroom or loading spirals in the dark.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE?
Any analogue camera capable of using 35mm film, a compact or an SLR makes no difference. (Preferably an SLR)**
Subject to availability, Lomography will make its experimental 35 mm cameras available on loan for shooting; during the workshop, participants will also have the opportunity to scan negatives with Lomography’s DigitaLIZA Scan Kits.
**because we can rewind the film in such a way as to leave part of the film outside the container and facilitate its insertion into the spiral
