Description

Les Nuits Fauves

The book “Les Nuits Fauves” is a photographic series of women of the night. I chose burlesque situations, private parties, nightclubs, casinos and friends’ parties. I went to Berlin, Prague, London, Las Vegas, Paris and Milan at different times between 2018 and 2021. The photographs were taken with flash to quickly accommodate the movements of the bodies that appear from the dark to be seen in their jarring, wild colors. “More than the body approach, I am interested in photographing the way women move inside their clothes. Often the shots are bodies taken from the back or in a partial way precisely to narrate encounters in the night as a desire for “escapism,” where different states of consciousness and psychic distances are recognized where passing experiences such as loneliness are accepted, experiencing paradoxical ways of living where one enters and leaves, but where some feelings remain.”

Carolina Lopez

born in Colombia in 1980, lived in Bogotá until the age of 17, then moved to Florence, where she studied painting and photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and worked for several years as Studio Manager and Department Head at the American School. In Milan, where she still lives and works, she attended a Master's degree in Photography and Visual Design, winning a scholarship at Fondazione FORMA – NABA, and worked as a photographer, constantly exploring the theme of women in their urban and social context. His work continually invokes film and literature. Absorbed by photography, she wanted to question the boundaries and limitations of this art, exploring themes of the everyday and adopting a homogeneous style over time. His first book, “Le Nuits Fauves,” was published in 2022 in partnership with SelfSelf Books crowdfunding.
